Dependet not added to W2

Hello, I started a part time job last year 2024 and forgot to add my 1 dependent on my w2 form as I did not think this job was going to workout. However, I ended up staying at this job and working the rest of the year but never changed the paperwork to reflect my 1 dependent. I am now ready to file my taxes and need to know how can I amend that or what to do? do I have to file a different form or just leave it as is.

You did not add your dependent on Form W-4.

For your tax return, there is no extra form to file. Just enter your W-2 as it is. Your tax withheld would be higher without the dependent and your refund would be higher.

Going forward, you should fill out form W-4 to include the dependent and give it to your employer.

You do not do anything about that for your 2024 tax return.  You gave a W-4 to your employer to tell the employer how much tax to withhold from your paychecks.  The employer used that information; it did not go to the IRS.   The W-4 you gave the employer does not dictate how you have to file your tax return.   Just enter your dependent in MY INFO to claim the dependent, and enter your W-2 as it appears.

If you want to change the amount that is being withheld from your paychecks you can prepare a new W-4 to give to your employer.
