Dependent SS Benefit of $6006.

Daughter files mother as a dependent.

Does mothers SSA 1099 of $6006 count as income and make mother a non-dependent ?

When asked if mother made $5050. dis qualifies her as a dependant.

No, the social security income does not qualify as income for the dependent test. You should not enter any income for her if all she earned was social security income.

No---Mom's SS does not disqualify her as a dependent.  The $5050 of income is for income NOT counting Social Security.  If you pay for over half of her support and she has less than $5050 of income not counting SS, she can be a qualified relative for the $500 credit for other dependents.
