Covid Stimulus Payment and 2020 Return

I received a COVID stimulus check in April, 2020. As I work on my 2020 tax returns (Federal and Ohio), I can't for the life of me find a place to report this. Am I missing something?

Thanks for your time and help

When you select Federal Review, the first thing that should pop up is the screen below titled It looks like you qualified for the stimulus, did you get any payments?

If you are not seeing this screen, you may need to run an update to ensure your program is up to date.

You can do this by selecting the Online menu at the top.

Then select Check for Updates.

When you enter your stimulus payments, you will need to complete both boxes for both payments as shown in the example screen below.

Please follow these steps to report the stimulus payments received. Please be aware you will have to enter both payments the one from April 2020 and the one from the beginning of 2021:

  1. Log into TurboTax.
  2. After entering all your information click "Federal Review" at the top of your screen.
  3. On the screen "Let's make sure you got the right stimulus amount" click "Continue".
  4. You will be asked about the amounts of first round and second round stimulus payments you received.  If you did not receive a payment enter "0".
  5. TurboTax will then calculate the amount of stimulus payment remaining that you are still entitled to get.
  6. Any stimulus amount remaining due to you will show as a credit on line 30 of the 1040.

If you do not qualify for the Recovery Rebate Credit then the questions might not pop up.

To be eligible you need to be a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident alien in 2020 and have a Social Security number that is valid for employment.

You cannot be claimed as a dependent by someone else to be eligible.

Your credit amount will be reduced if your adjusted gross income (AGI) is more than:

  • $150,000 if married and filing a joint return or filing as a qualifying widow or widower
  • $112,500 if filing as head of household or
  • $75,000 for eligible individuals filing as a single or as married filing separately.

Your payment will be reduced by 5% of the amount by which your AGI exceeds the applicable threshold above. (IRS FAQ Recovery Rebate Credit )

I did the Federal Review, but no "Let's make sure you got the right stimulus amount" question/screen popped up.

I received a first round stimulus, but not a second. I'm not seeing anyplace to enter the stimulus payment.

Thanks for your time and help.

TurboTax shows no updates needed, I did get a stimulus check, but I still don't get screen to enter stimulus payments. I have a guess though.

My Federal Review shows an error I need to correct (waiting on Roth IRA excess contributions to be re-characterized). I'm guessing that means the review isn't complete and I'll see the screen once I'm able to correct the error.

Again, thanks much for you time and help. I'll post again once I'm able to correct the error.
