I had invested in some stocks a couple of years back that required K-1's, last year K-3's were not required and I know this year they are. I have the K-3's but I have seen some conflicting information about whether or not a simple stock investor needs to file an amended return with the K-3's. Is this required at this point?
Also, one of my investments did not publish a K-3, i'm going to believe that if I dont receive them then thats not on me?
Thanks
Jason
Hi @jcaponetto !
According to the IRS, "You must include this information on your tax or information returns, if applicable...You only need to use the schedules that are applicable to you". To determine what is applicable you can review this resource. Please look on page one under "Uses of the parts of Schedule K-3..", and review the seven parts. https://www.irs.gov/instructions/i1065sk3#en_US_2022_publink100071711:~:text=the%20replacement%20forms.-,Uses%20of%20the%20parts%20of%20Schedule%20K%2D3%2C%20in%20general.,determining%20the%20amounts%20to%20report%20on%20Forms%201042%20and%201042%2DS.,-Part%20XII.%20Reserved
Having said that, I will say that if you use TurboTax and initiate an amend to add the form, TurboTax will easily guide you through inputting the information.
Hope this helps!
