Completecheck won't acknowledge review of 1099-B information

Hi,

I have completed my return and during the review process, I have been asked to go over information from the Robinhood Securities 1099-B that I received. The figures are correct, but when I go to Review and click "Continue", I get sent right back to the Completecheck screen with no error message. I have tried deleting and re-entering this information in the Income section of the return, but I still get stuck in the loop. I'd appreciate any help if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks

@mcjchurch - Sounds like you have attempted several fixes and still need help.  Even though /Robinhood is an Exchange that is used by Turbotax, there may be a problem with the CSV file that you downloaded.

Below is a sample CSV file that works in TurboTax.

Purchase Date,Date Sold,Proceeds,Cost Basis,Currency Name

2/20/2020,3/15/2021,$485.00 ,$500.00 ,LTC

2/15/2020,4/10/2021,$85.00 ,$80.00 ,BC

1/15/2019,5/30/2021,$165.00 ,$180.00 ,ETH

2/15/2004,6/30/2021,$110.00 ,$108.00 ,BC

You may want to download your info into this file then upload to TurboTax.  Use the instructions below:

The easiest and fastest way to get your crypto transactions into TurboTax is by using the import method. If you’d rather download a CSV file from your crypto service and upload it to TurboTax, here’s how.

  1. Sign in to TurboTax, and open or continue your return
  2. In the Wages and Income section under Investments and Savings (or Investment Income), select Start or Revisit next to Crypto (1099-B)
  3. On the next screen, you may see Did you sell any of these investments in 2021? or Time to kick off your investments!, select either Yes or Okay!
  4. On the We can make this faster screen, select Enter a different way, and then select Cryptocurrency on the following screen
    1. If, instead, you’re asked to select an investment type, select Cryptocurrency
    2. You’ll then see the Get ready to be impressed screen. Select Continue, then select Try another way
  5. Select Upload on the Select your crypto experience screen -
  6. Choose Download from your computer
  7. On the What’s the name of the crypto service you used screen, select your crypto service from the dropdown menu
  8. After downloading your CSV file from your crypto service, upload it on the Go ahead and upload your crypto CSV file screen
    1. Note: Make sure your file extension is .csv
  9. Review your uploaded crypto information

Hi @Cynthiad66 ,

Thanks for the reply. The crypto 1099 from Robinhood works fine. It's the Securities part that I'm having trouble with.

I manually entered the proceeds/cost basis from the 1099-B, but I'm stuck in an endless loop of reviewing this information. If there was some error message, it would make sense, but when I hit "Continue" after reviewing my info it proceeds as if there's no issue but sends me right back to the completecheck screen.

I contacted Robinhood and they say that while they provide a CSV for crypto, they only issue a PDF for the Securities 1099-B. I can upload this successfully after I manually enter the data. I have tried re-downloading and renaming the 1099-B, but it doesn't fix the issue.

Thanks

Hi,

Just to update, I figured it out. I had been trying to enter the proceeds/cost basis totals for the 1099-B (as recommended by the software), which was sending me into an endless loop. The solution was to enter each purchase/sale individually. Luckily I didn't have too many, but this should probably be looked at in future

I'm having the exact same issue, but cannot use the work around of entering each transaction manually.  I have over a thousand sales in the year, but the system will not let me enter the total sales.  Help!

Are you able to Enter a Summary in Lieu of Individual Transactions?

If you're using TurboTax Online, you could try closing the program, clearing your Cache and Cookies and trying to import again.
