Class Action Payment

I received two separate class action payments $36.04 and $69.65 but did not receive any 1099-MISC statements.  Do I have to include this in my tax return and if so where?

Yes, you have to report all income on your tax return. Generally, a 1099-MISC will not be issued unless you receive a payment of $600 or greater per tax year.

Please follow the instructions below to report this income:

  1. Open or continue your return, if you're not already in it.
  2. Click on Federal on the left hand side.
  3. Click on Show more of Less Common Income.
  4. Click Start on Miscellaneous Income.
  5. Click Start on Other Reportable Income.
  6. Answer Yes for the question Any Other Taxable Income?
  7. Enter information on the page titled Other Taxable Income.
  8. Click Continue.
