Claiming a recent grad as dependent

Hello, I was a full time student age 23 or under up until June 2019, when I graduated, and I started working in July 2019, but my parents are still providing more than half of my support and I am still living with them. Would they still be able to claim me as a dependent and would I file my taxes as someone who is claimed as a dependent? Thank you!

Yes!  You have all of that correct, as long as you are a qualifying child according to these guidelines:

Qualifying child

  • They're related to you.
  • They aren't claimed as a dependent by someone else.
  • They're a U.S. citizen, resident alien, national, or a Canadian or Mexican resident.
  • They aren’t filing a joint return with their spouse.
  • They're under the age of 19 (or 24 for full-time students).
    • No age limit for permanently and totally disabled children.
  • They lived with you for more than half the year (exceptions apply).
  • They didn't provide more than half of their own support for the year.

If you have income and need to file a return, you will indicate on the return that you are a dependent of another.
