Changing from head of household to single, AFTER e filing?

We are a family of two single adults, in the same household, with one child. One parent claimed HOH (and filed), but the other parent decided it made more sense to claim the child as a dependent. Will we have issues with amending the HOH and having the other parent claim the child as a dependent?

If you want to file an amended tax return after IRS accepted your tax return to change your filing status, then you will want to wait until your original tax return is processed by the IRS. If you are receiving a refund, you should wait until the check is issued. Amended returns must be filed by mail.
