Stuck at a review question.  No definitive answer can be found online.  Here's the question Turbo Tax keeps asking:

Carryover Worksheet: Total withheld/pmts must be entered. We still need to know your total payments and withholding for your 2023 OK tax return. On last year’s return, total up all withholdings from W-2s and 1099s, estimated tax payments, and what you paid if you filed for an extension.

To clarify, did you enter a state refund (1099-G)?

If yes, did you take the Standard Deduction or Standard Deduction on your 2023 Tax Year Federal return?

Is this asked on the Federal review or State?

Thank you for your reply.

I have not yet begun the State tax section.  This review seems to be related to finishing up the Federal tax portion.

Last year, when filing my 2023 tax return, I did receive a small State refund.   Is this the number they are looking for?   I doesn't seem to be as the (confusing) instructions say:

"On last year’s return, total up all withholdings from W-2s and 1099s, estimated tax payments, and what you paid if you filed for an extension."

Cornering 1099-G.  No, I assume not, as I have not filed for unemployment benefits.  Google tells me that in Oklahoma:

"You will receive a 1099-G tax form from the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission if you filed for and received unemployment benefits."

Concerning Standard Deduction:  Yes, I did take the Standard Deduction in 2023.

This review question from Turbo Tax seems not only very confusing but also nonsensical as I have used TurboTax for many years and so it seems they would have all these numbers being requested (whatever they are).

If you are using a Desktop version of TurboTax, the Federal Carryover Worksheet is one the Forms you can see in Forms View. Here is a screenshot:

This information about your state withholding and estimates is used to complete such information as whether you are due a refund or owe additional tax, and whether you will owe a penalty for underpayment of estimated tax.

If you seeing this in Review, you can opt to go back to the section where this information is entered - in the Federal section for Taxes Paid, and/or in the State interview.

If you are using TurboTax Online, you can preview your return before filing to find out how your taxes were calculated. See here for details.
