First, are you completing your 2020 tax return?  If so, then you need the form 8915-EThe form 8915-E was used for 2020 tax returns or other disasters.

If you are preparing your 2021 return, you will complete the Form 8915-F.

Use Form 8915-E if you were impacted by a qualified 2020 disaster (including the coronavirus) and you received a distribution described in Qualified 2020 Disaster Distribution Requirements, later.

Whether or not you are required to file a federal income tax return, you would use Form 8915-E (which is expected to be available before the end of 2020) to report any repayment of a coronavirus-related distribution and to determine the amount of any coronavirus-related distribution includible in income for a year.

  1. Sign into your TurboTax account > Select Wages and Income > Scroll to IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R) > Edit/Add.
  2. Continue through Form 1099-R entry if applicable and select I took out this money due to a qualified disaster.

Form 8915-F is used to report a disaster-related retirement distribution, and any repayments of those funds. It also allows you to spread the taxable portion of the distribution over three years, if needed and report prior year distribution amounts which are to be taxed in 2021

The Form 8915-F was finalized today, however, TurboTax is still updating the system for the form.  It will take a few days for everything to work properly.  Please try agin in a few days if it is 2021 taxes you are trying to file.
