Can you explain why i could not file an extension when i was only one day late?

can we still try it today after we are finish I had to call medicare and double check why their were medical figures already in the system? are we still too late even though i had a question pertaining to this return?

Sorry, but you are too late to request an extension unless you are out of the country.  You had to request an extension by April 15.  If you are getting a refund there is no penalty for filing late.  If you owe tax due, then now you are just late.  The IRS will calculate and bill you for penalties and interest that apply after they receive your tax return and payment for the tax due that shows on your Form 1040.
