Can you buy audit defense after filing extension, or buy it after filing return in October?

I just printed my extensions, do I buy the audit defense now, or wait until returns are complete? will I be given the option to buy audit defense when I complete the return in October?

Absolutely.  You can even buy it for any tax year for which you have not received an audit notice.  They will sell you service for as far back as you want.
