Can't E-File because unable to locate Form1116FormScheduleB.pdf

When attempting to e-file I'm getting an error saying TurboTax can't e-file because it is unable o locate Form1116ScheduleB.pdf.  I completed the questions for the foreign tax credit and the Form 1116 Schedule B is included in my return.   I know this was a problem early last year before the application supported the form.  Is  this the case again this year?

No, the 1116 is ready and the system should automatically attach the 1116 pdf to your return if it is required (and it sounds like it is, in your case).

You may have to go back to the section for the foreign tax credit and navigate through it and double check the questions there to be sure everything is correct.  It isn't triggering the attachment like it should and answering the questions in that section might do it.

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately it did not resolve the problem.

I opened a case with Customer Support yesterday.  The rep indicated there is no known cause for triggering this error message in the current product and escalated the case to Software Support.

She suggested waiting 1-week to see if it gets resolved.

I remain curious if this is a general problem affecting everyone using the Form 1116 Schedule B or if there is something unique in my return that is the trigger.

Thank you.

Can you clarify something for me - are you using the desktop or the online software?

I am using the desktop version, Turbo Tax Premier for Windows.

It's unlikely the problems was fixed last year, so it remains for this year also.

Working with Product Support a work-around to the problem was found.  I am a New York State resident and the problem may be related to this.

I was able to e-file my return when I e-filed the Federal and NYS return separately.

There was one suggestion that NYS forms are not finalized until 2/9/23 (tomorrow),  which prompted me to try just filing the Federal, which went through.

Shortly after I filed NYS return,  which to my surprise also went through.

I had this problem filing 2021 return and now again on 2022 return. I am in New York state. What worked for me both years was to file the federal return and New York return separately as stated above. Using desktop premier on Windows.

Thanks to the other users for reminding me. Writing a note in my files for next year.
