If you received a Form 1095-A, and you are preparing your tax return in TurboTax, answer the health insurance questions and use your 1095-A to fill out the section in TurboTax that will calculate whether you are entitled to the Premium Tax Credit.

Your tax return, including the Form 1095-A information, will be processed as any other tax return. If, however, you received a Form 1095-A and don't report it on your tax return, your return will be rejected from e-filing.

Here's how to enter your 1095-A in TurboTax:

  1. Open or continue your return.
  2. Navigate to the 1095-A section:
    • TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to 1095-A.
    • TurboTax Desktop: Search for 1095-a, then select the Jump to link.
  3. Answer Yes and enter your 1095-A info on the next screen.
    • We don't need all the info from your 1095-A. We'll only ask about the info that affects your return.

See this TurboTax help article for more information on reporting your 1095-A using TurboTax.

Are you able to make entries in TurboTax Online but they are not saving? If so, please clear your browser cache (or use a different browser) and try again. You can also try deleting entries (use the trash can) and then re-adding them, signing out and signing back in, or restarting your device.

I thought that I uploaded my 1095-A  form multiple times. It's been rejected 4 times. I don't know what the problem is.

I suggest you delete the 1095-A and start over.

On the menu bar in the sidebar on the left.

  1. Select Tax Tools
    1. You may have to minimize tabs for
    2. Federal & State
  2. On the drop-down select Tools
  3. On the Pop-Up menu select Delete a Form
  4. This will give you all of the forms in your return
  5. Scroll down to the form you want to delete
  6. Select the Form 1095-A
  7. Click on Delete

If you've downloaded multiple forms, delete them all.

To re-post a 1095-A in TurboTax, you can follow these steps

  1. Select Tax Tools
  2. On the drop-down select Tools
  3. There will be 4 green boxes
  4. Select Topics Search
  5. Type 1095-A
  6. The question will come up Did you receive Form 1095-A for your health insurance plan?
  7. Answer Yes
  8. Continue to the form
  9. I suggest you enter it manually.
