can I write off auto shows if Im in the transportation industry

I work for the film industry in hollywood. I'm in transportation. I go to auto shows and car auctions to see whats out there to see how they look and how they perform. At work we drive anything from big rigs to picture cars. We use futuristic vehicles and period vintage classics to help the story line of the project. Can I write off these auctions and shows and the travel expenses that go with that? Examples are; LA auto show, Mecum auctions, and Monterey carweek and concours d'elegance at pebble beach.

Hi Johngochef,

How fun! Looks like this is clearly tied to you work. The IRS states that "if its necessary and ordinary" for your work then you can take the deduction for auto shows.

Happy tax day, cheers!
