Can I use TurboTax to file for 2018 if I was a non-resident alien for tax purposes until August and then a resident alien for tax purposes from then on?

Yes, you can.  You will be a resident for tax purposes in 2018 if you stay more than 183 days within the year. You are not dual-status.  You are a nonresident for five years 2013-2017. ( IRS only counts the calendar years, not by months) You start counting days from January 1st, 2018.

let me get some more information from you.  Can you tell me what visa do you have and when did you first enter the US?

I entered the US in August 2013 with an F-1 visa. I was notified that my status changed to resident alien for tax purposes around July or August of 2018, but I was not sure if I could file using Turbo Tax in my situation of dual tax status for the year.
Thank you for taking the time to answer.
