Can I use 2016 Home and Business to prepare a non business simple return?

Any problems associated with using Home and Business for a non-business simple return? If so, is there a work around solution?

No problem using the 2016 desktop Home and Business edition to just complete a personal tax return.

Just start an new tax return by clicking on File at the top left of the program screen and click on New Tax Return.

Complete the Personal Info section of the program.  Then start the personal tax return.

  • Click on Personal
  • Click on Personal Income
  • Click on either Walk me through everything or I'll choose what I work on

A 2016 tax return can only be printed and mailed, it cannot be e-filed.

All the Desktop personal versions (Basic to Home & Business) can prepare all the forms including 1040EZ, 1040A and 1040 and all the schedules like Sch A and C.
