Can I take last year's professionally prepare return (file electronically by professional) and use it for template for 2019?

I am not a TurboTax customer but am thinking about it.  Question: Can I take my 2018 return (filed electronically by professional) and enter it in TurboTax for template for 2019? The accountant's fee was very expensive.  I want to potentially start using TurboTax to prepare my own 2019 return using 2018 as a template. How would I do this with TurboTax.  Also, I use Quicken - how does TurboTax work with Quicken?

You can try the different ways with TurboTax's free calculator TaxCaster. It will give you the estimated tax differences when filing either way. It’s up-to-date with the latest tax laws and can estimate your 2019 taxes as well.

  • Or, you can use the TurboTax Online version. It's free to use as long as you don't print it. Your 2018 information will be saved so if you decide to use TurboTax next year, you can transfer the information to 2019. I recommend you create two accounts. One for your already filed 2018 return and one "test 2019" return. Click her to create test returns.

You can send your tax information from QuickBooks Self-Employed to TurboTax Self-Employed or TurboTax Live Self-Employed from a web browser or the QuickBooks Self-Employed Mobile app (available on both iOS and Android).
