Can I still file head of household if I live with my parents and have children that I support?

I have 3 small children and I am a full time college student. I moved back in with my parents while in school. I will work a full time and the primary provider for myself and children. My parents also work full time jobs. Will I still qualify for head of household and receive the earned income tax credit?

You would be eligible for earned income credit but not for Head of Household assuming you don’t pay more than half of the expenses of maintaining the home.

I did not know that you can still qualify for the earned income tax credit if you file single. I thought one of the qualifications was filing head of household. I don’t solely support the entire household but I am the only provider for me and my children. Thanks for the help!

@ahabani13 You can file using Single as your filing status and claim your children as dependents and should still be eligible for child-related credits like child tax credit, earned income credit and childcare credit.    All of the child-related refundable credits are based on having income from working---so you must show income from working to get any of those credits.
