Can I still claim my son for 2019 since as of August 2019 he joined the Navy as a Nuclear Engineer for submarines?

Possibly, if he fits the parameters for claiming him as a dependent.  

 

TurboTax will walk you through questions about your son and let you know if he qualifies as a dependent for you in 2019.
