Can I start the returns online and transfer later when I do get the CD in the mail? I ordered a CD but don't have it yet.

Do NOT start the state return until you switch so you don't have problems.

Yes, you can start your return Online then continue with the Desktop software (CD/Download). You would save your Online return as a .tax file, then open the .tax file in the Desktop software.  See the following for instructions.
