Can I start a new 2023 1040SR? The IRS rejected the e-file one for incorrect AGI. If it's not accepted is it the same as if I never filed?

I haven't been able to fix the errors or change anything originally entered. I purchased TurboTax 2023 deluxe online edition

If your 2023 return was rejected, then it was never filed; the IRS did not get it.   It is too late to e-file a 2023 tax return.   AGI no longer matters, since you only needed AGI in order to e-file.   The only way you can file your 2023 return now is by mail.   You need to print it, sign and date it in ink, and mail it in.   You must pay your TurboTax fees in order to print the return.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
