Can I save and restore the state of my return in TurboTax online

Here's what I want to do:
1. enter my 2018 tax information into turbotax online
2. save the current state of my return to a desktop file
3. experiment with various changes to the return see what happens
4 when done with the experiments, re-load the tax file saved at 2. and restore the return to its original state

This is to allow me to make temporary changes and then restore the return without having to re-enter the original data each time

This is something that can be done easily with TT desktop, but it's not clear if TT online allows it.

Unfortunately, no, you can only upload prior year information to TurboTax Online. You are able to switch from the online version to the desktop but you cannot switch back from desktop to the online version.

Also, you can only upload 2017 data if you clear and start over. (Instructions listed below)

So there are two options available:

1. You can use the desktop version.

2. Create a new account to do your what if analysis.
