Yes, you have until April 20th to resubmit a rejected return (or extension) as long as it was submitted before the deadline originally.
But how do I do that? There's nowhere on the site that lets me correct me rejected extension and re-submit.
I assume that there was no fix extension link in email that directs you? Try this - log into your online account and see if there is a File Extension option in lower left hand corner - if not, click Take Me to My Return - under Manage my Return there should be an option to File Extension. See if that lets you back into the system to resubmit.
There was not a fix extension link in the email. There is not a File Extension option in lower left hadn corner. There is not a Manage my Return option either, probably becasue I have not started a return yet. I just filed an extension only.
Ok, at this point your best course forward is to just print and mail the extension form and make any payment online at the IRS. You will have until April 20th to mail the form. You can include a copy of the rejection notification but the IRS will also have it in their system.
