Can I prepay the TurboTax fees (ideally for federal and state) now for my 2019 filings? All I see is the option to pay when filing.

To pay the TurboTax online account fees by credit card, without completing the 2019 return at this time, click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen. Then click on Print Center. Then click on Print, save or preview this year's return. On the next page, to pay by credit card, click Pay Now.  The next screen will show a review of your Fees, click on Continue. Complete the next screen to pay by credit card and click Continue

One thing to note:  If your state section doesn't work yet... then your state forms are not ready now, and it may not charge you the extra $40 ($45 later) needed for the state software payment.

When you can proceed into your state tax return section, then it should allow you to go thru the Print procedure again and pay for the state at that time.  Historically the prices jump up in March, so late Jan or early Feb should be soon enough to get the lower price.

Anyway to get around this and prepay my State Turbotax fees without having to complete the State sections or starting the state sections?

None of the help suggestions for pre-paying filing fees appear to have anything with the download version, as none of the click here suggestions for within the program or on the website exist. I think all the answers are about online versions. Why is this so hard for us to do? My software is registered, and really should have an easy path for prepay instructions. When I login the website, you should already know which version I have. Why can't you just put pay fees, or prepay fees as a menu selection. I have programming knowledge, and I can assure you that if I was responsible for creating all the difficulties, and not offer a simple online menu choice. If I did something like that I would have been fired. If I offered suggestions to people about prepay, and didn't give the info for all versions of the software, and not just online version, I would have been fired. I read those questions people submitted where they didn't say what version they had, and the answers were always the same. It is clear there is a different path for this, depending on what version they have. This is crazy. It's bad enough that the fees are ridiculously high. For MUCH less money I could pay for overnight air shipping and still have money left to go to dinner with the remainder.

@pcxprt If you have the CD or the Download of the TurboTax software and installed the software on a personal computer,  then it was already paid for by you.

What exactly are you needing to pay for now?
