Can I pay my federal tax due in april and then pay my Louisiana state tax due on May 15th?

Apparently yes, the LA payment deadline is 15 May.

But make your payments a couple days, to a week earlier than the deadline.  Any foul-up at all and the tax department doesn't care who is at fault...late is late.
