I use multiple computers to complete this, as I don't have internet at home. I would like to take Turbotax on the go, using a USB flash drive. I was wondering if it is possible to install it on a USB flash drive, so that it is portable or if registry entries, Windows dependencies, or other necessary files that are installed onto the windows drive would not allow for this. I would like to be able to take this and update it at the library, then take it home and work on my taxes there. Is this possible?
What if I install the core files onto both computers and then move it back and forth for updates? Or do you have pre-packaged offline update downloads and a place I can download prepacked offline state install files from? Anything I can take with me for offline installation is better for my situation. I of course would update before filing, but would like to make the prep process as easy as possible. Also, I can't find where I can add a state to my cart for this purchase? Can this be done?
I also wish you would make this easier for others. I have no need for internet at home (other than on my phone), so I believe this would help others who are in similar situations. I can hotspot my phone, but servers normally drop my slow connection, making any update take several tries and also potentially corrupting my system (do to partial/incomplete/corrupt files)
.
Or just a pre-packed set of core files (registry entry merges included) where I can set the filepath to the TurboTax system files.
You can manually update onto a thumb drive and transfer it to the computer TurboTax is installed on. Manual updates are available for TurboTax for Windows federal programs (Basic through Business). They're not available for the Mac or TurboTax State programs, nor can they be used to convert an older version of TurboTax to a newer one. Please click on the link for instruction \s on how to manually update. https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/3301973
Does converting an old version save time/data? I do have my copy from last year. I didn't know that could be done. Do you have a link to instructions for that?
