Can I file this year's return if amended return for last year has not yet been processed?

I mailed an amended return in January but it is just showing as received last week and website says 16-20 weeks to process.  This was to correct an error in HSA contributions reported last year that was causing me to owe $2,000 this year. 

Can I go ahead and file this year's return and just adjust the field that is in error on this year's return that will eventually be corrected on last year's amended return?
