Can I file only state tax and not federal? I already filed federal elsewhere, so the IRS rejected everything because of the redundancy.

I filed my federal taxes with credit karma but they were unable to do my state taxes. So I came to turbo tax which made me file both again. Now my state return has been rejected because they can see I already filed my federal taxes. My federal return was filed and accepted already. I need to file my state taxes.

No. The TurboTax State program is designed to pull (transfer) information from your federal return. For this reason, TurboTax State is not sold as a standalone tax-preparation product.

It's kinda a yes & no answer. You can file a state return, from TurboTax, with out filing a federal return.  But you still have to prepare  a federal return, in TurboTax, and pay the TurboTax fee to do so. When you get to the filing section, you select that you do not want to eilfe federal. Select mail, but don't actually print and mail it
