Can I file my taxes if I havent worked in over a year, have 2 children, no earned income, i receive respite checks from helping my disabled brother, and child support

I havent worked in over a year, my husband supported me and my 2 children, I received child support from their fathers, and i also receive respite checks from taking care of my disabled brother who lives with my parents. Recently my husband left me, were still married, but hes filing married but separate. Can i still claim my children if he hasnt and I havent had any earned income?

No, if you children provide more than half of their own support or you do not provide more than half of the support for your children. For purposes of the support test to claim a qualifying relative, any income received by the individual, whether taxable or nontaxable, including social security and pension benefits, used by the individual for the individual's support is included in determining the amount of support the individual provides for himself or herself.

Without earned income, you are not eligible for the "refundable" Earned Income Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit.
