How do you efile from TurboTax? I don't see an answer to the question. I see other options to extend, but no "Yes/No" answer or how to for efiling from within TT. FWIW, I can only find an option to paper file from within TT
Yes...how to efile an extension? I don't want to mail forms.
Yes, I'm getting the same result! I've paid my taxes through the link but, am getting nowhere with TT!!!
This seems to be the norm for how Intuit answers questions. They never answer the question asked; just run on and on with non-answers.
What a horrible product. there is no easy way to file extension in turbotax. You have to print out paper form or do it through ttonline. Such an expensive piece of software that fails at this basic basic task
See Can IRS extensions be e-filed? for instructions on e-filing your extension.
How do you e file extension from within TurboTax desktop software. Why is this not allowed from there as I bought this software to efile? Why do I have to go to online to do it ?
I did file it on monday the 17th using TT online after spending good bit of time searching in TT desktop software. Question is why is it not allowed from TT Desktop software ?
Just read through answer for "Efile extension" and on the bottom of submitters instructions it says "print form and mail." So the answer to the question is NO, you cannot efile, you have to print and mail a request for extension. If you select "extend" in the search box in turbo tax program, nothing comes up. On the first page where you select your file to continue, way down on the bottom right is a "file an extension" grey tab. But nowhere in help or instructions does it explain it, you have to find it by luck.
@jhermwags Sounds like you did not use the TurboTax e-file extension website, since nowhere on the website pages for e-filing an extension request are you required to print and mail the extension.
Go to this TurboTax website to e-file an extension request - https://turbotax.intuit.com/irs-tax-extensions/
Yes Turbo Tax is excruciatingly asinine ... WTF I go to their free website to file an extension and they want me to pay when I already own the product... I wouldn't be here if the frickin software would have a way to file an extension electronically but NOOOOOOOOOO ... Quit sending us on a wild goose chase and fix your software!
