can i deduct aleve for pain relief caused by arthritis?

No. Only prescription medications are deductible medical expenses.

Not as a medical expense for Schedule A UNLESS you have a Dr. Prescription or other written direction to purchase that product. 

 

It cold be used to offset a Flexible Spending Account.

You could use a Flexible Spending Account or Health Spending Account to purchase those types of items, but no, they would not be considered deductible medical expenses for Schedule A unless  prescribed by a physician.
