Can I deduct co-signed Student Loan Payments which I make for my son if he is not claimed as a dependant?

The IRS does not allow a taxpayer to deduct student loan payments, just student loan interest. Since you are liable for the loan, you can deduct the student loan interest paid during 2019. Please view the Turbo Tax FAQ below for more information about the student loan interest deduction.
