Can I correct W2 myself without getting a 2Wc form?

I had extra shifts that weren't added to square that I got as a check. We went through square and deducted taxes from it. I have an earnings statement from it showing the tax breakdown, but it didn't get included in my W2. What do I do?

You cannot change your own W-2.   The IRS matches the W-2 it receives from your employer to the information you enter on your tax return.   If you believe that the W-2 you got from your employer is wrong, ask them to correct it and issue a W-2C with the correction on it.

The Form W-2 from the employer is sent to the IRS.  The IRS expects your tax return to reflect the same tax data as on the received W-2.  If the W-2 is incorrect then you have to get a corrected W-2c from the employer.

Would I file the W2-C in the same place as my W2 or is there a different place?

If your W-2 is wrong, ask your employer to correct it, and don't file your tax return until you get the corrected W-2, even if you have to wait.  When you get the corrected W-2, you enter it just as normal (only enter the corrected W-2, not both).

If your employer refuses to correct the W-2, and you think you know what the right numbers should be, there is a procedure for that, but it will likely delay your refund and cause problems for your employer.  So don't use that procedure unless your employer refuses and you have that in writing (including an email or text).  Wait for your correct W-2 instead.

Same place.  Enter the tax data and continue.

There will be a screen labeled Let's check for uncommon situations.  Check the box labeled W-2 was corrected by my employer (Form W-2c)

A Form W-3 and W-3C are only for the employer's use.

Do I pay extra for submitting a W2-C? Does it affect my tax refund?

Thank you for all the help

No there is not a fee to enter a W-2C.  It will only affect your refund or tax due in the sense that the amount of income in box 1 and maybe box 2 will change.

A W-2C and a W-3C are handled by the employer as part of their responsibility of being an employer.

You only have to report the W-2 or the W-2C on your tax return.
