Can i claim my children on my tax returns, if their mother claimed them and not me on her foodstamps?

so i don't reap the benefits of her food stamps but she has our two boys on it. i do pay for all the need of my boys, other than their food. they do live with me and her equally. but she is not my dependent, just them. can i claim them as my dependents on my tax returns without her getting penalized?

I did the exact same thing with my two boys. If they lived with you half the year or more, and you paid 50% or more in support, then you can claim them as dependants for the earned income credit and additional child tax credit. Only one parent can claim them for those credits, and the food stamps shouldn't be effected. My kids mother has food stamps too and they weren't effected.

Can I claim head of household as well? Will their food stamp be effected?
