Can I change my last name to see if that works?

My refunds have been rejected. I think it's due to my last name. I have never filed before but I think my last name was wrong at the beginning of filing

Yes. The IRS verifies based on what is on file at the Social Security Office. It matched the last 4 digits of your SSN with the first 4 letters of your last name. Use the name on your Social Security Card.
