The standard deduction is not a calculation. It is a set amount that is based on your filing status. The 2019 amounts are as follows:

  • Single, $12,200
  • Married Filing Jointly, $24,400
  • Head of Household, $18,350
  • Married Filing Separately, $12,200

Wrong.  not if your claimed as a dependent per the 2020+ Standard Deduction line and any box is checked.

TurboTax is TERRIBLE at explaining why their calculation doesn't match any of those $ values you've listed.
