Can I amend return as head of household to married filing jointly? Lived apart for the year.

Spouse hasn't filed for 2015 yet and estimated would owe taxes with married filing seperately status.

Yes, you can amend your head of household return to married filing jointly if that's what you and your spouse both want to do. It sounds like you have figured out that filing jointly will work out better for the two of you together. Of course, the two of you have to be able to cooperate in filing the return, handling any refund, etc.
