Can I add my dependents on my taxes. I need to update my tax information

1. Click into the Personal information tab on the left side panel.
2. Scroll down and click on the +add a dependent button.
3. Answer Yes to the question Do you have children or financially support another person?
4. Complete the Tell us about your dependant(s) section, being sure to enter their exact name, birthdate and social security number in the applicable fields.
5. Select Continue
6. Repeat these steps, if more than one dependent to enter.

1. Select Find from the menu and enter dependants
2. Select Dependants from the list, then select Go
3. If you've already entered one or more dependants, skip to Step 6. If not, answer Yes to the question Do you have children or financially support another person?, then select Continue
4. Select Continue on the dependant transfer step
5. Enter your dependant's information and select Continue
6. On the Dependants Summary, select Enter New Dependant or Done With Dependants, as applicable

 

Now if you are updating to add a dependent, for a previously filed tax return, you will follow much the same steps, however, you will need to first start the amended return, following the process outlined in the article linked below.
