CA requiring me to complete a 1099 misc and I don't have any 1099 income that I am aware of.

How do I check to see what could be the issue. My federal file is ready to go and did not get flagged, I can send any time but I want them both to match. Is there a way to check with the state?

Greetings!

If you have reviewed all your documents and there is no missing document to the best of your knowledge, then your next best course of action is to request a wage and income transcript. The IRS one can be requested at the following site:

https://www.irs.gov/individuals/transcript-types-and-ways-to-order-them

If there is a missing 1099 form, it should come out in the wages and income transcript. Though it only displays federal information, it should generally be enough to use to report missing state wages.

Best regards!

Are you asking about your Turbo Tax return?  Or did CA send you a letter?  Did you have a 1099Misc that transferred over from last year?  What exactly is it asking you?  Where?  It could be about the CA Middle Class Tax Refund.  That is not taxable and you do not need to enter it at all.
