No, you only need the prior year's AGI (or PIN) when you e-file your return. You don't need them to paper file a return. Make sure you sign your return before you mail it in.

if I didn't file 2015, how can I e-file 2016 without a prior year agi?

@dmac2053 since you didn't file a 2015 return, enter zero for you 2015 AGI
