After updating my 2019 TT files today the program crashes if I try to update any items

Two days ago everything worked just fine. I opened the program today an it updated files. When I went to make some changes to an income item, the program crashed. It has repeated the crash with each new effort regardless of which income area I click on.

I have encountered the same problem today (May 15, 2020) after updating TT files.  Had my taxes 99% finished a week ago. Never had TT crash before. I have TT Home and Business running on Windows 7.

I'm having the same problem.  Worked fine 13 May 2020 but following automatic update, crashes when using any update income or deduction button.  It's possible to make changes in the forms directly without a crash.  I have Premiere and it's running on Windows 7.  Tried uninstalling and reinstalling.  Same issues.  Obviously something to do with the update (not sure why tax forms seem to need updating just about every time you restart, even though the tax filing deadlines have passed - what does that say about the accuracy of your filing if you finished yesterday?).

I'm running on windows 7 too, but using Deluxe. It does appear to be a problem with the latest "updated files".  I agree that the the whole constant updating process seems unnecessary this late in the tax filing process. And yes the issues seems to be linked to making changes.

I have the exact same issue using TT Home &  Business on Windows 7 Pro.  Can not update w/o programming crashing.  Help desk had me try running program in Windows 7 compatibility mode - made one update and then the program crashed and would not even restart.  Had to turn off compatibility mode to restart and ended up with same problem.  Of course the help desk blames the problem on running "unsupported" Windows 7, but it is not like at this late stage of 2019 updates the programmers needed to access some new feature in Windows 10 not supported in Windows 7.  Just a poor rollout of an update that was not properly vetted before being released.

Sorry. Same problem with Asset entry forms under 4562.

I have 245 entry forms to fill out for disposition of the asset.

The entire app freezes and no links or windows controls are operable.

I have been frozen now 3 times. Had to close the toolbar icon each time and reboot to use the program for about another hour, then it freezes up again.

Being a computer person, I am thinking my next step is reinstaling the app, rebooting and trying again.

But, I want to make sure that it won't hurt my .TAX file.

I called TT support and now have to wait 30 mins. Will publish my result.

I did hear back. They said that I could do a re-install.

So. What I did was go in to UN-install to get rid of the existing program.

While in there, they offered a repair so I did it.

I rebooted after the repair and I think it froze later on.

So, I uninstalled the program, rebooted, (I had my .exe file) installed the pristine copy, and rebooted.

Just started using it, lightly, so no freezing yet. I have bigger problems.

I want to close my schedule C as of 12/31/2019 and revert back to hobby/personal use of the equipment.

It's a mess. The only thing they have on the depreciation form is sale, abandonment, and something else, but the proper term is "convert to personal use", which is not on their form. The TT and IRS explanations are complicated and appear to involve forms that are not in TT (may be in home and business?).

I'm waiting for a callback on that.

Mine crashes every time it tries to update and I am running windows 10 enterprise. So, I am at 99% done with Federal. Click Federal Review, it has an update button and a back button. Can't get past it. When I click Update button, it saves and closes the return, tries to do an update and nothing happens. I have to start the program again and go through the same loop. So, it is not just Windows 7. My computer is fully up to date with the latest Windows 10 Enterprise build (Version 2004 OS Build 19041.388)
