Advice on filing now while still awaiting last year's refund ?

Any advice on filing this year while I'm still waiting on last year's refund ?

I got a - I believe a CP05A - notice that the IRS was waiting on information.

After a few 60 day delay notices, I was asked to provide documentation about some income which I've provided. Now 60 days later, no refund and no reply from IRS.

Do I file this year and just don't list the refund since I've not received it ?

And of course, then I wonder about needing to amend it once we do resolve the refund with the IRS.

Sarcasm On: seems a great time to be cutting IRS staffing and funding / Sarcasm Off:

Yes, you should file your 2024 return while waiting on your refund from last year.

Report your actual 2024 income and deductions normally. The pending refund from last year doesn't impact how you file this year's return. The federal refund doesn't get reported on the return so you won't need to amend your 2024 return once you receive it.
