Adult child filing question

My husband and I claimed our 19-year-old child as a dependent.  She is currently a college student, and we support her. She worked last summer and received a W-2. Does she still file taxes even though she is a dependent?

She must file a return if any of the following apply.
• her unearned income was over $1,100.
• her earned income was over $12,550.
• her gross income was more than the larger of—
• $1,100, or
• her earned income (up to $12,200) plus $350.

even if not required to file, if there were withholding taxes she must file to get them back

Yes, she can file her tax return and indicate on the return that she can be claimed as a dependent.
