Additional refund from IRS after receiving my claimed tax return

I filed my 2019 tax return using TurboTax and received the entire federal tax return as I had claimed. Then, after a couple months, I received a letter from IRS that mentioned I would also receive additional refund (about $70) with a description "Interest credited to your account", and then they deposited that into my account.

Do I need to indicate this additional "refund" for 2019 somewhere in my 2020 tax return, and if yes, where does TurboTax check/ask for this information?

Yes, you need to report it as interest Income as if you received a 1099INT.

To report the interest:

  • Log in to your account.
  • Select Federal from the left menu.
  • Go to Wages and Income then Income and Expenses.
  • Scroll down to Interest and Dividends
  • Select Start next to Interest on 1099-INT
