A part-time resident of both Massachusetts (MA) and California (CA). Got an error saying, "Schedule OJC: State abbreviation or postal code cannot be MA. How do I fix it?

TurboTax asks me to fix "State abbrev or Postal cd .....". Don't I put MA for Massachusetts? I'm confused about how to fix this.

Thank you!

Hi gyou0818,

Schedule OJC is a MA state form to report that you have filed a return and paid taxes in the other state - name of other state, amount of income on which you paid taxes, and total tax due before credits, W-2 withholding and payments.

Therefore, the two-letter state or post codes needs to be non MA, In your case, it is likely CA. Suggest to "Go over MA state again" and correct accordingly.

Hope the above helps. Thank you.

Hello and thank you for your question.  It appears there may be more information needed to completely answer this question in full.  I am assuming you ran into an error in the review phase before moving along to file.  The error can be in federal input that flowed down to the state or at the state level.  To ensure you get this resolved in a timely manner I do recommend to set up a call within the program to speak with a Tax Expert or a chat.
