A death in 2015 non spouse just finished Probate that allowed distribution of all assets

A death in 2015 non spouse just finished Probate that allowed distribution of all assets including my porsion of an IRA. I do not know when or if I will get a R1099. I received a check 2/5/17. Can I report this without a 1099 on my 2016 taxes or wait until a possible 1099 for 2017. Should I immediately contribute to my EFTPS account for 2016 or 2017?

Yes, a distribution received in 2017 would be reported on your tax return for 2017. You should receive Form 1099-R in early February 2018. In this case, retirement contributions should be made for the same year in which you received the funds.
