2024 IRS tax payments still showing pending status on IRS site

I made my 2024 federal tax payment on April 16th 2025 and a small payment on April 25 2025.  These amounts were drafted from my bank account but are still showing "pending" status on my IRS account.  I made them via the IRS site.  I received a CP14 notice that I owe the amount paid plus interest.  How can I resolve this issue.

IRS website for a CP14 notice - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/understanding-your-cp14-notice

What should I do if I disagree with the notice?

Call the phone number located in the IRS Help section of your notice. Please have your paperwork (such as cancelled checks, amended return, etc.) ready when you call.

If you used the IRS payment website to pay the taxes owed, then you will have a Confirmation Number from the IRS for that payment - https://www.irs.gov/payments

I have an EFT number for both payments and bank statements that reflect it was drafted out of my account.

What would be the reason that the two payments are showing pending?

Possible reasons:

  • You paid late and IRS is working up a bill for penalties and interest.
  • You applied the wrong REASON to your payment made on IRS.gov.

Only IRS can tell you the actual reason.
