2024 federal and state files deleted

I e-filed my 2024 federal and state taxes using TurboTax Delux 2024 Fed + E-file & State WIN Mac ESD CC. I immediately saved my fed/state e-files in .pdf and .2024tax file formats in iCloud and in my downloads folder. Since then I have received confirmation emails saying my federal and state returns have been accepted.

I opened the app a few days later, it automatically installed updates to the software, and my .pdf and .2024tax files from my return were gone.

I have called customer service  a few times, and they have not been able to help me resolve the issue. The only advise I received was to contact my state and the IRS to request copies of my tax returns--I'm kind of annoyed because I completed the steps needed to save my own copies to my computer before submitting, and now there is no way for me to access my tax returns through TurboTax??

Super frustrated--is there any way to recover these files since they were submitted through TurboTax?? I'd hate to have to go through the song-and-dance with the IRS and my state department  of revenue just to get a copy of the documents I literally just e-filed a few days ago.

Returns prepared using desktop software are only stored on your own hard drive or any backup device you used like a flash drive.  They are not stored online.   Search your computer for the files.

You can get a free transcript from the IRS or for a fee of $30, an actual copy of your tax return.
