2020 State returns

I filed thru Turbo tax prior the unemployment 20400 exclusion. The IRS fix it and I received an additional refund. Didn't get additional funds from the state although per new calculation I will be qualified to CEITC. I downloaded a copy of my 2020 taxes from turbo tax, and it showed my taxes with the CEITC. Did turbo tax submitted the new numbers automatically and the state just taking its time?  would it automatically be corrected once Ill submit my 2021 thru TT? do I need to submit it?  if so, what do I need to do?

The IRS let the taxpayer know not to amend their tax return, if their only issue was the reduction of taxable unemployment by the $10,200. There were 2 in your household with unemployment so it doubled. Their guidance was that they would make the changes themselves, which they did for the most part. Some are still waiting for their new refund.

Not every state followed the IRS with reducing the taxable unemployment. If you are in a state that did follow the IRS, then you may have to amend the state tax return and send it in for them to recognize it. If you used the online version of Turbo Tax, you cannot amend a prior year return using the online version. You will have to transfer the original return to the download version. Here is some further guidance.  Transfer file
